Once again Kikit provided the entertainment for this spectacular event, which took place in October 2011 at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.
This year the Asian Awards honoured rock/pop legend Freddie Mercury with the Founder's Award. Ever more poignant as 2011 would have been Freddie's 65th birthday. Brian May presented the award to Freddie's mother, Jer, and sister, Kashmira, which was then followed by the main entertainment of the evening, a rocking performance of Queen songs by West End Stars, who have all appeared in We Will Rock You. The event offers awards across 14 categories that include business, philanthropy, entertainment, culture and sport. Winners of this year's awards included Jay Sean, Russell Peters, Meera Syal, Asha Bosle, Amir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ravi Shankar. Other attendees to the event included Natasha Kaplinsky, Boris Johnson, Stuart Broad, Ellen Rivas, Gurinder Chader and Anoushka Shankar.
